Plagiarism Policy for MBAJ

MBAJ is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publishing ethics. We take plagiarism seriously, as it undermines the trust in scientific research and discredits the original work of authors. This policy aims to ensure the authenticity and originality of all published content.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the use of another person’s ideas, text, or other intellectual property without proper attribution. This includes, but is not limited to, copying verbatim text, paraphrasing without proper citation, or presenting others’ research findings as one's own without acknowledging the original source.

Types of Plagiarism

  1. Direct Plagiarism: Copying text or ideas from a source without proper citation or acknowledgment.

  2. Self-Plagiarism: Republishing one's previously published work or significant portions thereof without proper disclosure.

  3. Mosaic Plagiarism: Incorporating phrases or ideas from a source without proper acknowledgment, even if mixed with original content.

  4. Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Rewording someone else's work without giving appropriate credit.

Policy on Detection

All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using industry-standard plagiarism detection software before peer review. If plagiarism is detected at any stage before publication, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision, proper citation, or may be rejected outright based on the extent of the plagiarism.

Consequences of Plagiarism

  • Minor Overlaps: Authors will be asked to revise the manuscript to properly cite sources or rephrase the content.

  • Significant Plagiarism: Manuscripts found with substantial plagiarized content will be automatically rejected.

  • Post-Publication Plagiarism: If plagiarism is detected after publication, the journal will conduct an investigation, and the article may be retracted. Authors' institutions may also be informed of the misconduct.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. Proper credit must be given for all ideas, text, data, and graphics sourced from other works.

Preventive Measures

To avoid plagiarism, authors are encouraged to:

  • Use their own words to express ideas.

  • Properly cite all sources, including data, theories, and methods.

  • Utilize plagiarism detection tools prior to submission.
